Jo Potter’s musical journey began at a young age in a home filled with instruments and creativity. The youngest of four in a musical family, she first took the stage at just six years old. Classically trained on the flute, Jo always felt a deep, instinctive connection to music—one that extended far beyond technical skill and formed the foundation of her identity as an artist.
As a teenager, Jo expanded her skills by teaching herself piano and guitar, driven by a desire to give voice to her original compositions. While she pursued a career in the medical field, her dedication to music never wavered. In 2003, she released her debut album, 8 Circles, which received critical praise for its confident songwriting and fearless vocal delivery. The single “Valentine’s Day Song” became the #1 Most Added Song on FMQB’s AC40 Chart for three consecutive weeks and held a position in the National Top 10 for over six weeks.
Her 2008 follow-up album, Saved, marked a significant moment in her career, earning recognition as “a 12-track treasure chest filled with musical gems.” The album’s success led to a special invitation to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland—an international milestone that highlighted her growing impact as a recording artist and live performer.
Jo’s global experiences have shaped her as both a person and a musician. Living in South Korea, and Singapore, she continued to write, record, and evolve her sound. In 2017, she re-released Saved to a new audience, drawing renewed acclaim and introducing her earlier work to a broader international fanbase.
In 2021, she released Tonight, a self-produced album blending genres of Pop, Americana and contemporary folk. Praised as “masterful” and “timeless, with a rustic charm,” the album showcased Jo’s growth as a producer and storyteller. The title track charted on Billboard’s Top 40 Pop Stations more than for six weeks in a row. The album’s production spanned Los Angeles and Singapore, with vocals recorded across Asia, reflecting the international scope of her artistic journey.
Jo’s songwriting is known for its emotional depth and honesty. Whether drawing from personal experiences or the stories of those around her, she captures moments of vulnerability, strength, and connection with a rare authenticity. “I write when I feel something powerful—whether it’s my own experience or someone else’s. Music lets me translate those emotions into something universal.”
Her 2024 EP, Rocks, is a bold new project that reimagines three original songs in two distinct versions—electric and acoustic. This dual presentation reflects her love for both sounds and highlights the versatility of her songwriting. Influenced by Country, Southern Rock, and acoustic Bluegrass, Rocks is a genre-blending collection that remains true to Jo’s evolving artistry. Jo Potter’s commitment to music remains at the core of who she is—as a performer, writer, and producer.
